I sent a letter, card, and SASE to Al Pedrique, the current bench coach for the Houston Astros and former infielder for the Mets, Pirates and Tigers on 9/19/2011 and received it back today 10/3/2011 signed with a blue felt tipped marker. It is a little difficult to see but I am happy with the success!
